QUESTION FOR XOOTR SCOOTER AND STEVE:
Hey Xootr scooter Steve. A.K.A, the big guy behind Xootr scooters. I wanted to ask you if I should lubricate the Xootr scooter wheel bearings?
I’ve owned many adult kick scooters before purchasing a Xootr scooter, and what I noticed is that over time, the bearings needed to be lubricated.
After so many miles, the cheaper kick scooters would start to feel much slower. When I took the wheels off, and thoroughly inspected them, I saw a lot of grim and dirt, on dry bearings. Basically, they had no oil left on them.
What makes me wonder is if the Xootr scooter bearings will eventually get bound up with grim and dirt, and lose all their oil? Much the same as my other scooters that I used to own, until I got rid of them, and started riding the Xootr scooter exclusively.
Many people have said that I shouldn’t lubricate my Xootr scooter wheel bearings, but I wanted to hear it from the big guy myself, which is you, Xootr scooter Steve.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question Steve, and I look forward to hearing what you recommend. I’m just worried that my Xootr scooter bearings will eventually start to slow my scooter down.
ANSWER FROM XOOTER SCOOTER AND STEVE:
Absolutely NOT, nothing will ruin the bearings faster. The bearings are self-lubricating meaning that they come pre-greased.
Many customers believe that adding more lubrication will increase the speed of the scooter, but it only attracts dirt/grit which makes its way into the bearing.
Your bearings will outlive the life of the wheel. The only maintenance would be to clean the outside of the bearing if there is a build up of hair, string, dirt, etc.
